Our History
Don Wilson Builders was founded in 1955 by Don Wilson, Sr. Since its inception, the company has built over 30,000 single family homes throughout Southern California. In 1955, Don Wilson Builders ranked as the fourth largest home builder in the United States with over 2,500 single-family starts. In addition to single-family homes, Don Wilson Builders has built numerous apartment communities as well as commercial business parks most of which are still owned by the company today.
For over 70 years the company has focused on its property management services and manages the properties in its own portfolio as well as managing properties held through partnerships. Don Wilson Builders’ property management has an excellent reputation for maximizing property values by properly maintaining properties and providing exceptional service to both residential and commercial tenants. Most of the management team has been with the company for over twenty-five years with many employees with over thirty years of service.
Current Operations
Over the last twenty-five years, the company has completed a transition into the third generation of family management. With the new management team, the company has expanded its investment property portfolio with acquisitions of multi-tenant commercial properties, mixed-use commercial parks, retail buildings, and self-storage properties. Don Wilson Builders has also entered back into the home building/land entitlement market, with recent acquisitions of properties suitable for residential development. The company plans on re-establishing itself as a major participant in the local housing market as the company was in the early stages of its growth. The company has assembled a team of residential development professionals with many years of experience in the home building industry to further its commitment into the housing industry.
In addition to residential development the company has also recently partnered with several real estate developers in providing equity into joint venture opportunities throughout southern California. Such projects include self-storage, industrial developments, wave pool-based communities as well as a golf course community.
Don Wilson Builders will continue to seek real estate-based investment opportunities to continue the company’s long tradition of conservative, long-term, prudent investing. The company is guided by a Board of Directors made up of family members who work well together to make quick decisions to take advantage of investment opportunities.
